A true story on how a taser gun was used:

Freddy started hanging around old man Benson’s sporting goods store when he was just ten years old. Now sixteen, and saving up his cash for college, he ran the cash register on weekends when the owner took a few hours off to spend time with his daughter and grandkids.

Weekend afternoons were pretty quiet in the neighborhood. Most folks did their shopping at the mall these days, though many of the office workers still stopped by during the week. For Freddy, it usually meant a chance to catch up on inventory or even the rare opportunity to get some more homework done.

Melissa, who helped her father run the store, had spent some time and energy upgrading the store’s security in the past few months. She and her father didn’t believe in stashing a gun behind the counter – they didn’t want to run the risk that it might be used against them, or stolen at night and used in some other crime. So Melissa picked up a Taser. She figured that if someone came in and threatened her father or one of her clerks, they could point and shoot it just like a gun.

As the Bensons enjoyed their afternoon in the park, Freddy caught up on some of his schoolwork. He couldn’t wait to enroll in pre-med courses that fall. As he looked up from his textbook, he noticed an unfamiliar figure hovering around the store. The guy was easily a foot taller than Freddy, and weighed about two hundred fifty pounds. “Can I help you?” Freddy shouted.

The man darted his eyes at Freddy in between glances at the four corners of the store. Freddy leaned up off his chair, and asked, “Is there something I can help you find?” Suddenly, the man darted toward Freddy, eyes ablaze. He bellowed, “Yeah! You can help me find all the money in your cash register, punk! And when you’re done with that, I want you to come in to the back room and get that safe open!”

Freddy noticed a bulge in the man’s sweatshirt, and didn’t want to risk what might happen if that was any kind of weapon. In a split second, he grabbed the Taser from underneath the counter. Freddy locked the laser sight onto his target and pulled the trigger. Even though the robber was still about fifteen feet away, two small darts found their mark and channeled 50,000 volts of electricity over the pair of wires. The criminal collapsed, and Freddy knew from biology class that the attacker’s muscles wouldn’t stop contracting until he was stuck in the fetal position.

After the cops and paramedics arrived, Freddy learned that the robber was high on meth, looking for cash for a quick score. Without the Taser, who knows what he might have done. Freddy knew that, in that state, the guy could even have survived a gunshot and still done some serious damage.

Closing the store that day, he couldn’t wait to swing by the park and give Melissa the news.

You can either schedule a convenient office appointment or convenient mobile service by contacting us at 214-793-1155 or make your appointment online at http://www.acsfingerprinting.com or http://www.acsmobilenotary.com or http://www.acsmobileservices.com

Per person, our office appointments includes up to 2 ink fingerprint cards (sorry, no electronic/digital fingerprinting available). The charge is $30 + tax OR $25 cash. If you need 3 or more cards, the price is only $10 per card. For notary stamps, we charge $10 for the 1st stamp and $5 for each additional stamp. Mobile pricing varies based on distance from our Irving office and type/quantity of services needed.

We work by appointment in the office since we also schedule mobile appointments out of the office. We accept walk-ins but it is best to call in and
schedule an appointment to ensure we are in the office when you need us. If you walk-in, just ask for JAY. To receive the lowest rates as quoted above, you must schedule appointments between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM Monday – Friday and between 8:30 AM – Noon Saturday and Sunday. Keep in mind that when using a stun gun, you must be within touching distance of the attacker - you must be able to make physical contact with the attacker in order to use a stun gun. Using pepper spray or pepper foam can be advantageous as these items generally have an 8-10 foot range and can be used prior to any type of physical contact. The pepper spray will more than likely be all you need to immobilize your attacker and have an opportunity for your flight to safety. Additionally, some pepper sprays contain a dye which will allow the police to better identify your attacker.

Also be aware that in some areas there may be surveillance systems in place to help identify your attacker(s).

Fingerprint and Photo Information

Under State law TXDPS must conduct a fingerprint based State and FBI Criminal History background check as part of the application process for both original and renewal applicants.

As a courtesy, TXDPS will resubmit renewal applicants’ existing fingerprints for background check processing; however, if fingerprints on file do not meet current FBI or Texas quality standards applicants will be required to submit new fingerprints to complete the renewal application process.

Paper Card Fingerprint Submission

CHL applicants can submit rolled ink fingerprints on Applicant paper fingerprint card.

Submit application – We encourage you to Apply online!
- If submitting an online application – The online system generates a printable checklist and an email confirmation. Include your paper fingerprints along with all of your checklist items.
- If submitting a paper application – Include your paper fingerprints with your complete application.
Ink fingerprint collection – Obtain ink fingerprints from a law enforcement agency or someone qualified by a law enforcement agency to collect fingerprints.
Payment – Ink fingerprint collection fees are the sole responsibility of the fingerprinting entity and may not exceed $10.00.
Ink fingerprint submission – paper fingerprint card must be completed and mailed to TXDPS. The following required fields must be completed or the fingerprint card will be rejected:

Original Applicant Fingerprint & Photo Requirements

All Original CHL applicants are required to submit fingerprints to TXDPS as part of the complete CHL application. CHL applicants can choose to submit electronic fingerprints or an ink rolled paper fingerprint card* regardless of whether the applicant submits a paper application or an online application.

*TXDPS now only requires that applicants submit ONE (1) ink fingerprint card, which will be used to process background checks.

Original CHL applicants must continue to sign the photo holder and return it with two (2) passport photos regardless of the method used for fingerprinting; however, signatures are no longer required on the back of the photos.

Renewal Applicant Fingerprint & Photo Requirements

As of May 1, 2010, CHL renewal applicants are no longer required to submit fingerprints or photos as part of their renewal application. TXDPS now has the technical capability to resubmit good quality fingerprints* and photos**.

*As a courtesy, TXDPS will resubmit renewal applicants’ existing fingerprints for background check processing; however, if fingerprints on file do not meet current FBI or Texas quality standards applicants will be required to submit new fingerprints to complete the renewal application process.

** TXDPS reserves the right to request replacement passport photos in the event current photos do not meet quality standards and/or a person’s appearance has changed substantially. TXDPS will send notification to the applicant if new photos are required.

Law Enforcement Vs Private Contractor Fingerprinting

When the public is required to get their fingerprints recorded for non-criminal background checks, everyone thinks they can only get this done at the nearest police department. This is not the case. ACS Fingerprinting and ACS Mobile Notary & Fingerprinting is certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety's Private Security Bureau and is authorized to fingerprint for all 50 states and for the FBI.

None of the metro area police departments will do Immigration fingerprinting and they do not provide FD-258 fingerprint cards to those needing to be fingerprinted for non-criminal background checks. They only fingerprint a couple days each week and for only a couple hours at a time. People are required to be a resident or work in that city in order to be fingerprinted at that city's respective police department. In other words, the police departments don't make it easy for you to get your fingerprints recorded and ACS Fingerprinting does!
